Kuwano's peculiar object is a novalike (symbiotic) binary system with a red giant star. Spectral observations

  • 1. AN SSSR, pos. Nauchnyj. Krymska Astrofizicheskaya Observatoriya

Description

Results of spectral observations of the Kuwano's peculiar object (binary system with a red giant star) from August 1979 till October 1980 are given. During the 1979 maximum, the object's spectrum corresponded to a high-luminosity F-star. At the phase of the rapid decrease of brightness, the absorption F-spectrum was changed to the late M-giant spectrum with the emission lines Hsub(α) and D Na. During the prolonged minimum near JD 2444500, the forbidden emission lines [N II] and [O III] appeared in the spectrum. The list of identified lines, estimates of radial velocities and measured equivalent widths of spectral lines and intensity jumps near molecular band limits are presented
