Alkali-halide crystals with Z color centers represent a new class of passive laser switches featuring a high thermal and optimal stability and a possibility to control the spectral range of wave effective lengths within wide ranges (0.6 - 2.1 μm) through selection of the matrix, impurity ion and type of color center. 9 refs., 2 figs., 2 tabs
