Technetium dithizonate

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, Tokai, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

In the presence of hydrazine or zinc metal, 99Tc tracer is extracted into chloroform- or carbontetrachloride-solution of dithizone from 0.1 M nitric acid. On the other hand technetium is stripped with > 4 M nitric acid or 0.1 M nitric acid containing hydrogen peroxide from the organic solution. Basing on these facts, the formation of the dithizonate is newly confirmed. According to the dependence of the extractability for technetium, it is found that two dithizone anions are bound for each technetium cation in technetium dithizonate. (author)
