Description
ITER will be composed of over 165 computer controlled autonomous Plant Systems by means of an instrumentation and control (IC) system. Conceptually each Plant System IC is composed from three separated domains following to the overall ITER IC system design concept. These domains are 'Conventional plant control-', 'Plant Interlock-' and 'Plant Safety-' System. Each ITER IC system has two levels of hierarchy namely 'Central IC system' as upper layer and 'Plant System IC' as lower layer. The Plant System IC provides data acquisition and monitoring of the plant system, controls and operates them, protects the investment, personnel and environment during ITER plant operation. This paper will report on 'how to integrate' over 165 plant system IC which are provided by different ITER partners and installed at the ITER site and commissioned to operate ITER as an integrated Plant System. To achieve this mission, standardization of plant system IC design methodology, selection of software and hardware to be used, interface definition and services provided by the Central IC system is important to the project. Another important activity for integration is the 'communication' between Plant Systems and between Plant Systems and the Central IC system for data to be acquired and monitored, and command to be exchanged. It will report on current Plant System integration status seen from Central IC system associate with standards selection results for hardware and software, available Plant System IC profile data and future ITER IC integration plan. This document is composed of an abstract followed by the presentation transparencies. (authors)
