Description

Effect of pre-strain on two-way shape memory strain of Ti49.2Ni50.8 and Ti50Ni43Cu7 alloy were investigated by tensile test and electrical resistance measurement. The results indicated that there existed optimal pre-strain temperature and pre-strain value, at which the specimen exhibited maximum two-way shape memory strain. For Ti49.2Ni50.8 tensile specimens, the maximum two-way shape memory strain was 3.6% (pre-strain 14% at -60 degree C), for Ti50Ni43Cu7 tensile specimens the maximum two-way shape memory strain was 3.0% (pre-strain 12% at 20 degree C). For Ti49.2Ni50.8 ring shape specimens, the maximum two-way shape memory strain was 4.1% (pre-strain 13.7% at -60 degree C). (authors)
