Application of optical fibers to nuclear power systems. Development of radiation-resistant optical fibers for nuclear application
Description
The nuclear accident at Fukushima-1 revealed the importance of the visualization of the core parts of nuclear systems, where an intense radiation field hinders easy access. Fused-silica-based optical fibers are considered one of the strongest candidates for the visualization of nuclear systems. In this paper, the present status of the development of radiation-resistant optical fibers is described. (author)
