Description

Most of surface uranium deposits were discovered by radiometry. But radiometry is blind for uranium ore 2 feet deep. New deposits will require more and more sophisticated models. Examples are given illustrating the importance of mineralogy, geochemistry for uranium transport and precipitation. The use of these methods will decrease uncertainty in costly end phases of exploration

Abstract (French)

La plupart des gisements d'uranium ont ete decouverts par radiometrie, mais au-dela de 50 cm cette methode est aveugle. La decouverte de nouveaux gisements necessitera des modeles de plus en plus sophistiques. On donne quelques exemples illustrant l'importance de la mineralogie et de la geochimie pour le transport et la precipitation de l'uranium, ce qui reduira les incertitudes dans les phases finales de l'exploration qui sont les plus couteuses
