Description
Radial velocity differences between the classical Cepheid SU Cyg and a hot companion have been measured from IUE high dispersion spectra. The blue star is itself a member of a close binary system. The triple system solution provides the ratio of the Cepheid mass to the sum of the masses of the companions. IUE low dispersion spectra are used to infer the masses of the companions. A mass of 6.3 Msolar is derived for the Cepheid, with a range from 7.0 Msolar to 5.9 Msolar, which is in agreement with the evolutionary mass
