Description

It is recalled that a body compartment represents the diffusion space of a tracer. This space coincides more or less with one of the physiological water or mineral sectors and its magnitude and limits are governed essentially by dynamic exchange mechanisms. The complexity of the pre-equilibrium exchange kinetics in each compartment is shown, with mention of the various sub-compartments in which the dilution of each tracer takes place and where many diffusion constants are involved. Methods of measuring total water by tritiated water, extracellular liquid and exchangeable chlorine by 82Br, exchangeable sodium and potassium by 24Na and 42K respectively and exchangeable magnesium by 28Mg are described

Abstract (French)

On a rappele qu'un compartiment corporel represente l'espace de diffusion d'un traceur. Cet espace coincide plus ou moins avec un des secteurs physiologiques hydriques ou mineraux; sa grandeur et ses limites reposent essentiellement sur des mecanismes dynamiques d'echanges. On a montre la complexite la cinetique des echanges dans chaque compartiment avant l'equilibre, en rappelant les divers sous-compartiments dans lesquels se realise la dilution de chaque traceur et ou interviennent de nombreuses constantes de diffusion. On a decrit les methodes de mesure de l'eau totale par l'eau tritiee, du liquide extracellulaire et du chlore echangeable par le 82Br, le sodium et le potassium echangeables respectivement par le 24Na et le 42K, le magnesium echangeable au moyen du 28Mg
