Solar neutrino results from SNO and implications for neutrino oscillations

Creators

Description

The SNO experiment has measured the flux of 8B solar neutrinos via CC, NC, and ES interactions in D2O. The NC flux measurement, phiNCSNO 5.09conint.61+0.64 x 106cm-2s-1, represents the total flux of active neutrinos and is consistent with solar model expectations. When combined with the CC, phiCCrmSNO 1.76-0.10+0.11 x 106cm-2s-1, and ES, phiESSNO = 2.39 2.39-0.26+0.27 x 106cm-2s-1 results, SNO demonstrates the existence of neutrino flavour transformations at the 5.3σ level
