The potential for assessment of microcirculatory functions by observed NMR relaxation times

Description

A model is described for the spin-lattice relaxation of water-protons in tissue based on the interaction of the water-protons with excitations of protein segments. Changes in the relaxation parameter T1, according to this model, would be expected to occur with changes in protein conformation. For example, if perfusion of an organ is compromized, then the relaxation times usually change. 6 refs.; 1 figure
