Increase of nonspecific radioresistance in rats by means of magnet-active water

Description
Investigations were attempted in rats, half of them being treated with water exposed to constant magnetic field. Magnetic-active water (MAW) was given in two variants - for 42 and 90 days. Animal exposure was also in two variants: acute - to 840 R X-rays and chronic - to 1200 R at a dose rate of 1 R/hour. The following parameters were studied: survival rate, mean duration of life, changes in body weight and leukocyte counts, red cell fragility and nucleic acid concentration in packed white cells. Other determinations included: dielectric constant and high-frequency electric conduction of water and blood plasma of MAW-treated animals. The data obtained certify that long-term MAW treatment essentially increases the radioresistance of experimental animals both to acute and to chronic irradiation. (author)
