Hadron physics - properties of excited baryons

  • 1. Osaka Univ., Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Ibaraki, Osaka (Japan)

Description

We study baryon physics from quark model and chiral symmetry points of view. Flavor independent nature in the baryon spectra is discussed within a non-relativistic quark model with orbital excitations of rotational band like structure. The systematics indicates clearly positions of missing resonances. Exotic baryons are also discussed as the states which can not be reached by simple qqq states. In the order point of view, we discuss how baryon resonances are classified by the chiral symmetry group. It is shown that there are two baryon representations. We propose ηπ production experiments to distinguish the two baryon representations. (author)
