Governments provide funds for hearings

The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have made available up to $350,000 of intervener funding to assist the public in participating in the joint public review process of five proposed uranium developments in Saskatchewan. A joint federal/provincial committee will be established to review applications for funding and to recommend to both governments the allocation of funds. The funds will help the public participate in hearings examining uranium mine development projects at Cluff Lake, McClean Lake and South McMahon Lake and assist participants in preparing for and participating in pre-hearing scoping meetings and public hearings into proposed developments at McArthur River and Cigar Lake. Up to $200,000 will be available for the McArthur River and Cigar Lake scoping meetings and the review of environmental impact studies already filed for the Cluff Lake, McClean Lake and South McMahon Lake projects
