Description
On August 3, 1999, the French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin signed an act stating that further research will be carried out into the deep geological underground where radioactive waste could be stored. With the signing of the act, authorisation was given to the ANDRA - the organisation responsible for the transport, storage and security of radioactive waste - to start the construction and use of an underground research laboratory for the storage of radioactive waste. 1 ref
