Developments of tape and wire fabrication processes for high Tc Ba2YCu3O(7-y) oxide superconductors

Description

Tape conductors of Ba2YCu3O(7-y) with zero resistance at the temperature above liquid nitrogen (for an Ag-substrate tape) have been fabricated by a surface reaction technique. In the present method, Cu or Cu-electroplated Ag tape is coated with a fine mixture of BA2CO3 and Y2O3 and then heat treated at about 900 C to form a Ba2YCu3O(7-y) oxide layer with high density on both surfaces of the tape. A critical current density of about 40 A/sq cm has been found at 77 K and zero magnetic field
