Collision and encounter statistics from a molecular dynamics computation on a model of a fused salt
Description
The analysis of collisions (defined as approach within a selected distance) between like and unlike pairs of ions in a computer model of molten KCl is described. The rates of collisions, distribution of encounter lengths, rates of first return and of second return, and the probabilities of escape are reported. These quantities bear on the transient term in diffusion calculations, cage models, fluorescence quenching, and geminate recombination reactions
