Differential cross section of forward elastic neutron scattering on uranium

Description

Differential cross sections of small-angle neutron elastic scattering by uranium have been measured in the range En=1.62-1.93 MeV with energy resolution of 3.5 keV and in the range En=4.00-5.34 MeV with energy resolution of about 140 keV. Making use of the neutron forward elastic scattering cross section values being a result of graphical extrapolation of the cross section to zero angle and employing the σtot data obtained under the same experimental conditions as the differential cross sections, the relationship between Im f(0 deg) and Re f(0 deg) imaginary and real parts of forward scattering amplitude for uranium are studied
