Calculated and experimental definition of boundary layer characteristics in natural convection in a closed volume
Description
The characteristics of the boundary layer in a closed volume under the 2nd type boundary conditions have been numerically and experimentally determined. The test results prove transition to quasi-stationary conditions of free convection and are well consistent with the data relating to convection structure in the cylindrical and spherical volumes. Stratification of the liquid in the upper portion, for example, in the nuclear reactor with integral arrangement, results in complicated natural circulation of the coolant under the transient conditions
