Intramultiplet transitions at collisions of excited Zn(43Pj), Sr(53Pj) atoms with inert gas atoms
Description
Maxwell distribution averaged cross sections of intramultiplet transitions < σ(3Pj → 3Pj') > are presented in the form of the sum of contributions from radial < σ(3Pj → 3Pj') > and Coriolis < σc(3Pj → 3Pj') > transition mechanisms. Cross sections < σr (3P2 → 3P1) for collisions of Zn(43Pj), Sr(53P= j)+He, Ar, Kr, Xe are calculated. A correlation between total cross section < σ(3P1 →3P0) > and contribution of the Coriolis mechanism < σc(3P2 → 3P1) >, permitting to determine the value < σc(3P2 → 3P1) > according to experimental cross section < σ(3P1 → 3P0) >, which together with the calculated value < σr (3P2 → 3P1) provides the total cross section < σ(3P2 → 3P1) >, is established. The results obtained are used for the analysis of experimental data given in literature on collisions Sr(53Pj)+Ar, Zn(43P1)+He, Ar
