Materials irradiation experiments by KUR and post irradiation materials tests

Description

Materials irradiation experiments by Kyoto University Research Reactor have been performed with many purposes such as a way to introduce defects in materials, an investigation of irradiation properties of fission and nuclear reactor structural materials, and an invention of multifunctional materials. Since the sample loading space is small, miniature size samples are developed. In order to treat high radioactive materials or post irradiation experiments at cryogenic temperature, special jigs are manufactured. Various materials such as polymers, ceramics, semiconductors and metals are irradiated with neutrons and post irradiation materials tests are performed. In this report, some of these activities in the Research Reactor Institute are introduced. (author)
