Failed fuel detection and location in the prototype fast reactor

  • 1. UKAEA Reactor Group, Risley

Description

The failed fuel detection systems have been incorporated into PFR as part of the reactor safety instrumentation to protect against accidents arising from coolant channel blockages, to assist reactor operation and to provide data for fuel performance studies. These systems are based on the detection of delayed neutron and rare gas fission products leaking from failed fuel. (author)
