Existing methods of plutonium dioxide dissolution. 2. Reduction-oxidation plutonium dioxide dissolution using homogeneous catalysts
- 1. Radievyj Inst., Sankt-Peterburg (Russian Federation)
Description
Review of available methods of plutonium dioxide dissolution from the beginning of 70-s fill the second part of 1995 is presented. Two main directions are considered: electrochemical oxidation dissolution in nitric acid with Ag(2) as a catalyst and oxidation dissolution, catalyzed by cerium (4) in combination with anions of oxygen acids of the 4th-7th groups of the Periodical System. The experience of the USA, France and the Russia Federation in using these processes for dissolution of plutonium from recycles and wastes of plutonium and MOX fuel production is considered. 39 refs., 7 figs., 5 tabs
