Description
Global demand for energy continues to grow steadily year by year as the world population continues to grow while the society becomes more and more dependent on energy consumption. The need to find new sources of energy becomes increasingly important as environmental concerns mount over the emissions of CO2 from fuel fossil burning. Therefore alternative energy sources had to be found and exploited. A number of such energy sources were investigated and the most promising appears to be the thermonuclear fusion. The present paper approaches, at a basic level, the thermonuclear fusion from the plasma diagnostic point of view and the Romanian contribution to an EURATOM enhancement project. (author)
