Description
A careful analysis of solutions of the spherically symmetric modulation equation is made to show that (a) one must apply extreme care when interpreting its results in terms of modulation parameters and that (b) observations do exist which cannot be explained in this model. Modulation models including drift in the large scale interplanetary magnetic field are therefore needed
