Description

The work on TL properties of alkaline earth sulphate phosphors is reviewed with emphasis on the basic mechanism. Different impurity doped BaSO4 and CaSO4 phosphors have been studied. The correlation studies on TL, glow emission spectra, ESR and optically excited luminescence have helped in identification of charge trapping centres, emission centres and recombination sites. A mechanism has been discussed which can explain the TL behaviour of the alkaline earth sulphate phosphors. (author)
