Determination of nickel and cobalt and their behaviour in feedwater system

  • 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

A photometric method to be applied after millipore filter filtration and ion-exchange preconcentration was developed with the view of determining ultrasmall amounts of nickel and cobalt in water. This method was applied to the analysis of power plant feedwater. From the increase of corrosion products concentration in the feedwater system, it was estimated that the main corrosion product (iron compound) was released from mild steel piping connections between heaters whereas cobalt was released from stainless steel of the heater tubing.
