Effect of concrete specimen geometry and measurement angle on radar measurement

Description

Radar became one of major instruments for nondestructive testing of concrete. Radar has been used to measure concrete thickness and to detect delamination and steel bars. For effective application of radar, understanding of both dielectric properties of concrete and radar theory is required. In this study, the effect of geometry of concrete specimens and measurement angle on radar measurement were discussed. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) with frequency bandwidth of 2 - 3.4 GHz and 3.4 - 5.8 GHz was employed. The computer programs for signal processing include data processing using inverse Fourier transform, windowing, and imaging of time domain data.
