Control rod drive
Description
In a combination comprising a guide pin and a roller to be disposed to electromotive control rod drives, the substrate of the pin is made of stainless steel containing chromium. With such a constitution, nitriding treatment is facilitated. Further, since a nitride layer has excellent wear resistance in water, abrasion reduction is decreased than that in the case of using a cobalt-base alloy. The substrate of the roller is made of a nickel-base alloy. The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance in high temperature water, and the abrasion reduction thereof is smaller than that of the cobalt-base alloy. A ceramic layer is formed at the surface of the hole of the roller, and a nitride layer is formed on an iron-base alloy at the surface of the pin in frictional contact with the surface of the roller hole. With such a constitution, the control rod can be inserted and withdrawn smoothly, thereby enabling long time use. (T.M.)
