Preparation of titanium diboride powder from titanium shaving

Description

The possibilities for preparation of titanium diboride powder by means of embrittlement during annealing in oxidizing medium were studied. Its composition and properties were investigated. It is established that titanium chip is potential source material for production of titanium diboride. Production of titanium oxides with dissimilar composition from chip permits excluding shoot as an additional reducer. Prepared by suggested method titanium diboride powder is not very impure and highly dispersed
