INS RFQ linac 'LITL'

  • 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan). Inst. for Nuclear Study

Description

An RFQ Linac, named LITL (Lithium Ion Test Linac) is in course of construction at INS in order to develop the technology for the acceleration of ion in a low-beta region. The geometry of the RFQ structure has been designed to accept a 5 keV/u ion beam with a charge to mass ratio of 1/7 approx. equal to 1, and optimized at 100 MHz. An output energy of 138 keV/u is attained in a 122 cm vane length. The cavity, excited through a single loop coupler, has been designed on basis of experiences and results of cold cavity experiments. The LITL test facilities including an ion source, transport system, and diagnostic devices are in preparation. (orig.)
