Description

A total of 42 papers were presented in 8 sessions covering the following topics: practical experience in the handling of radiation accidents, organization and planning, training and exercising in planned arrangements, accident situation detection and assessment, and accident situation analysis. Two panel discussions were included in the symposium, the first under the chairmanship of Dr. W.D. Rowe (USEPA, Washington) reviewed the scope and application of emergency planning procedures and the symposium was concluded by a panel discussion chaired by Mr. K.L. Cameron (Atomic Energy Control Board, Ottawa, Canada), which reviewed collective experience and endeavoured to identify aspects requiring further development. All are summarized.
