Thermal expansion of AHWR fuel and simulated AHWR fuel
- 1. Radiometallurgy Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Thermal expansion data of ThO2-3.45%UO2 and AHWR Simfuel corresponding to average burn up of 28000 MWD/Te and 43000 MWD/Te from room temperature to 1300 deg C was generated using a high temperature dilatometer. Percentage thermal expansion for all the three materials at 1300 deg C is 1.27 % and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) in the temperature range from ambient to 1300 deg C was found to be ∼10.0 x 10-6/deg C .
