Radiolysis of HCN in heterogeneous phase

Description

We have studied aqueous HCN in an heterogeneous phase, with the purpose of analyzing the effect of a clay mineral, namely Na-montmorillonite, in radiolysis. The results obtained show that carboxylic acids are formed among the radiolysis products of HCN. In the presence of clay the formation of carboxylic acids is observed but to a lesser extent than without clay.
