Fluorimetric determination of uranium in monazites
Description
The determination of uranium in monazite samples by fluorimetric technique is briefly described. In the method used monazites were treated with HF-H2SO4 mixture and the solution was then complexed with saturated CaNO3-EDTA solution. The leached uranium was extracted in MIBK (methyl isobutyl ketone) solvent before fusion with high carbonate flux. The results obtained by fluorimetry were compared with the results obtained by delayed neutron analysis (DNA) and neutron activation analysis (NAA). (author)
