Dependence of rho-meson photoproduction cross section in forward direction on the atomic number of a target nucleus

Description

A study was made of rho-meson photoproduction in forward direction on 4Be, 12C, 27Al, 64Cu nuclei at the energies of incident quanta up to 4.5 GeV. Measurements were made with a double-arm spectrometer permitting under the conditions of heavy background the rho- mesons to be isolated. No individual channels of the reproduction reactions were isolated. The experiment was simulated by a Monte-Carlo method with the use of the standard program FOWL (CERN) with an increased counting rate. It was found that dsigma/dt in forward direction was approximately Asup(0.8) at X32 = O.85. This does not contradict the predictions based on the Glauber formalism for an incoherent process
