Estimation of magnetospheric current contribution to production of a current system of the equatorial ionosphere

Description

Contribution of magnetospheric currents to formation of equatorial current system is evaluated on the basis of the model calculations. It is shown that their effect is strongly stratified by altitude and that the currents of magnetospheric origin may be one of the formation mechanisms of the sunset peak in the zonal component of the electrical field. 7 refs., 2 figs
