Selfconsistent fusion barriers at near barrier energies
Description
Fusion potentials are calculated for a number of reactions within the static Hartree-Fock method with the Skyrme force SkM*. Fusion barriers agree with the data considerably better than reaction Q values. This suggests some error cancellation, possibly with the relative kinetic energy term. Our results are consistent with the idea of fusion hindrance in tip collisions. Some comparison to results of the frozen density method is made. (author)
