Hydropower research

  • 1. St. Anthony Falls Hydraulic Lab., Dept. of Civil and Mineral Engineering, Univ. of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN (United States)

Description

University hydraulic laboratories have provided applied research services for the hydropower community for many years. It is the contention of this paper that only limited technology transfer has occurred to date and that there is great potential for the university research community to play a significant role in developing the needed technology for making hydropower a more cost effective option in the future. Examples are drawn from the 52 year history of applied and fundamental research at the St. Anthony Falls Hydraulic Laboratory of the University of Minnesota
