Description
The oxidation of stainless steels under Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) primary water conditions is a complex phenomenon since it occurs at high pressure, high temperature and in the presence of a complex water chemistry. In this paper we demonstrate that atom-probe tomography combines the high spatial resolution and chemical sensitivity required to understand the chemistry of oxidation at the atomic scale. Effects of cold work in surface oxidation have also been characterized and will be discussed. (author)
