Study of the neutron spectrum in the reaction 208Pb( p,n)208Bi at E/sub p/ = 200 MeV

Description

Microscopic calculations of the neutron spectrum in the reaction 208Pb(p,n)208Bi are given for E/sub p/ = 200 MeV at small angles. It is shown that the distorted-wave impulse approximation and the structure representations of the theory of finite Fermi systems are applicable for description of the region of low-energy excitations 0≤-Qapprox. <30 MeV with small momentum transfer. A quantitative estimate is obtained of the value of the local charge of quasiparticles e/sub q/[σtau]≅0.8 which characterizes the weakening of the integrated strength of spin-flip low-energy transitions, and effects associated with it are discussed. A comparison with the results of calculation of the neutron spectrum from the similar reaction in 90Zr is given
