Angular momenta of galaxies
Description
Results are given of statistical research on the dependencesof the angular momentum in spiral galaxies on their different integrated characteristics. The study is based on three homogeneous samples of H I observations on 687 objects. The relationship I M/sup a/ is confirmed for the angular momentum-mass connection in galaxies with a = 5/3. The later types of SB galaxies are characterized by large exponents a. The spiral galaxy sample is expanded to include other types of astronomical objects, and the relationship I 5 x 10-16 x M/sup 1.99/ has thereby been obtained and this holds for almost the whole range of the objects observed. It is established that one-parameter relationships such as angular momentum-mass do not completely describe the rotation of a cosmic object
