Experimental determination of reaction rates in explosive hydrogen burning
Description
For resonant reactions involving short-lived radioactive nuclei it is often possible to determine the relevant reaction rates by making use of standard nuclear spectroscopy techniques together with stable nuclear targets and beams. Recently, such measurements have determined ωγ= 0.9±0.6 eV for the 541-keV resonance for the 13N(p,γ) reaction and ωγ= 113±17, 198±51, 4.5±2.5, and > 10 meV, respectively, for the 1184-, 1072-, 1021-, and 851-keV resonances for the 15O(α,γ) reaction.
