Interaction of acridine orange with bile salts: a spectroscopic approach

Description
The present work investigates the interaction of Acridine Orange (AO) with bile salts (BS). BS below their CMC induce aggregation in Acridine Orange (AO) and at concentrations above their CMCs, AO is solubilised in BS micelles in its monomeric form. Dihydroxy BS induces the aggregation of AO more efficiently as compared to the trihydroxy BS. AO shows higher binding and partitioning efficiency towards the dihydroxy bile salts. The effect of ionic strength and cosolvent on the interaction process has also been investigated. (author)
