Current situation of spent fuel management in Taiwan, China

So far, Taiwan's spent fuel generated by commercial nuclear power plants are still stored in the spent fuel storage pools, which has almost filled. Since the early 1990s, Taiwan has closely tracked the international trend of spent fuel management technology and determined dry storage as a means of spent fuel interim storage. Also, Taiwan is actively promoting planning, approval and construction for the final repository of spent fuel, which would have been completed by 2055. In recent years, respecting the rapid development of China's nuclear power, we must face the issue how to manage spent fuel in the future. Thus, experience and lessons from spent fuel management in Taiwan is valuable to our spent fuel management. (authors)
