Description
The limits for exposure for radiation workers as well as for the general public are fixed by the maximum permissible dose (MPD) which is 50 mSv per year for the worker and 5.0 mSv per year for a nonradiation worker. Protection methods from external radiation include controlling access to radiation areas and using various types of shielding. To calculate the type and thickness of shielding necessary, use and occupancy factors must be considered as well as the type of radiation source
