Continuum electron emission in heavy ion-atom collision
Description
A convenient method for the investigation of the processes in which heavy ions interact with ionic, atomic and molecular targets is the detection and analysis of ionization electrons ejected by the fast charged particles from the target. Theoretical and experimental investigations of proton-atom collisions are described and the results are compared. Similar discussion of processes induced by He and C ions is given. Differential cross sections and angular distributions of these interactions are measured and plotted. Measurements concerning the effective charge of a helium atom against the interaction distance are described. (D.Gy.)
