A search for SH+ toward Zeta Ophiuchi

Description
A search has been made toward ζ Ophiuchi for interstellar absorption from the R11(O) line in the Α3Π-X3Σ- (0-0) band of SH+ at a wavelength of 3363.49 A in a new observational test of recent magnetohydrodynamical shock models. We have derived a low upper limit to the equivalent width of this line, Wsub(λ)(3σ) = 0.64mA, and discuss the implications of this result. (author)
