Baryon physics from meson physics via solitons

Description

A chiral invariant effective Lagrangian is constructed from the non linear sigma model along with a chiral singlet scalar meson (the epsilon meson), a chiral singlet vector meson (the omega meson) and isovector mesons (the rho meson and his chiral partner the A1 meson). The parameters of this effective Lagrangian are determined in the meson sector. Then the soliton solutions of this effective Lagrangian are investigated and from these the properties of skyrmions and the static properties of the physical baryons are derived. Also predictions are made on the baryon-baryon interaction. 8 refs.; 1 table
