Systematics of central densities in heavy spherical nuclei

Description

Density distributions are calculated for 29 heavy spherical even-even nuclei with known experimental masses. The effects of the isovector channel on the properties of heavy nuclei are crucial. The central depression parameter is increased by over 50% for the charge density, accompanied by a decrease in the central density. The isovector channel makes the formation of new elements with larger numbers of protons and higher neutron to proton ratios more probable. (Author)
